GREAT FALLS, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal that will resurface about half a mile of Central Avenue West in Great Falls. The project begins at the east end of the railroad bridge and extends west, ending at the intersection with 9th Street NW.
Proposed work includes milling the existing surface, overlaying the road with new asphalt, and finishing with a seal and cover (chip seal), and upgrading pavement markings and signage. The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the roadway.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2028 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
Partnering with the community is an important part of properly planning for future projects. MDT welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
