Yaak, Mont. — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and LHC Inc. will continue resurfacing activities on Secondary Highway 508 (S 508), also known as Yaak River Road, this month. This project extends from half a mile south of the Burnt Dutch Road intersection to the South Fork Yaak Road intersection, between mile markers 12.3 and 29.5.
In May, milling and paving operations occurred from west of Whitetail Creek Campground extending 6 miles to South Fork Yaak Road. Beginning tomorrow, August 6, through Saturday, August 9, crews will apply a seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, and pavement markings on this section of S 508.
Beginning August 17, a 5-mile stretch of the project area will be milled and paved, extending from Meadow Creek Road to west of the Whitetail Creek Campground. Following this work, crews will also install rumble strips and apply a seal and cover (chip seal), fog seal, and epoxy pavement markings throughout the entire project area.
Work is anticipated to be completed the first week of September, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
When traveling through the project area, drivers should expect temporary traffic signals, pilot cars guiding traffic, 35 mph speed limits, single-lane traffic, and 15-minute delays. Follow all posted signage and watch for workers. For the most up-to-date information, visit 511mt.net.
