HELENA, Mont. - The Carroll College men's basketball team is back in action following a weekend off, taking part in the 2026 Taco Bell Shootout, hosted by the College of Idaho in Caldwell, Idaho, on Friday and Saturday evening.
The Fighting Saints (3-0) march into the Gem State with an unbeaten 3-0 mark and will look to keep it intact against a pair of Cascade Collegiate Conference schools, Northwest (0-0) and No. 16 College of Idaho (1-1).
Carroll enters the weekend with one ranked victory already under its belt, a four-point road win over No. 20 Hope International, a quarterfinal team from a year ago, as well as a 27-point win over Bushnell in its last game last week in Helena.
Friday night's matchup with the Eagles will be the first meeting between the two teams in program history. Northwest has yet to play a game on the season, coming into the year off a 12-17 campaign last season that saw the Eagles get bounced by LC State in the opening round of the CCC Championship.
On Saturday night, the Saints will take on the No. 16-ranked Yotes of College of Idaho. With two NAIA titles in the last four years, the Yotes are consistently one of the top teams in the nation and will be a good measuring stick for Carroll in the early season. College of Idaho fell to Montana Tech in its opener before beating Montana Western by 20 last weekend in Dillon.
Carroll fell to the Yotes in its home opener last season and is looking for its first win in the series since 2021.
Friday night's tipoff against Northwest is slated for 5:30 p.m., while Saturday night's game against the host school is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
