KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Gabrielle Lougen scored in the 80th minute to earn Carroll College a 1-1 draw with Oregon Tech in a Cascade Collegiate Conference match on Saturday at the OIT Soccer Field.
Coming off a 1-1 draw Friday at Southern Oregon, the Fighting Saints (2-2-6, 1-0-4) found yet another late goal Saturday to escape the weekend with a pair of draws.
Although the Saints heavily outshot the Owls 17-5 and had an 8-4 edge in shots on goal, it was Oregon Tech that scored first. Kaelyn Jaentsch broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute, and the Owls led 1-0 at halftime.
Carroll controlled the second half but still trailed with just 10 minutes remaining. The breakthrough came in the 80th minute, when Gabrielle Lougen (Camas, Wash. / FR) scored a late equalizer off an Erin Coulter (Colorado Springs, Colo. / FR) assist.
For the second straight day, Maria Ackerman (Billings, Mont. / SO) made three saves in goal for Carroll.
The Saints are back on the road next weekend, heading to the College of Idaho on Friday, followed by a showdown with Eastern Oregon on Saturday.
