DILLON — The University of Montana Western Art Gallery and
Museum is once again pleased to highlight the artistic
accomplishments of its faculty.
This year’s exhibit includes work by professors Randy Horst, Eva
Mastandrea, and new faculty member David Regan, as well as work by
adjunct professors Eric Hammer and Sarah Krank. The Art Faculty
Exhibit will continue through Feb. 15.
Randy Horst is exhibiting new mixed media drawings that
specifically explore things, like livestock and trees, as viewed
from below.
Eva Mastandrea is represented by her wall-sized installation
called “Deferred Narratives,” which was exhibited at the Holter
Museum of Art in Helena earlier this year.
David Regan, a ceramic sculptor who also draws on the surface of
his pieces, has included a drawn ceramic panel called “Pissing
Pig.”
Sarah Krank is exhibiting five new colorful and inventive pastel
figurative drawings.
Eric Hammer is
represented by four large format photographic contact prints of
the Montana landscape printed on hand coated platinum/palladium
paper.
An artist’s reception will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6:30
to 7:30 p.m. The Montana Western campus and Dillon community are
invited to this free event. The reception is scheduled to coincide
with the Southwest Montana Arts Council Showcase Series performance
that evening by “Eric Bibb” (7:30 p.m. in the Beier
Auditorium).
The Art Gallery and Museum can be found at the south end of the
first floor of Main Hall on the Montana Western campus. Gallery
times are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. To
arrange for special times or visits call the director at

The gallery also houses a permanent collection of art, including
works by C.M. Russell, Edgar Paxson, Russell Chatham, and Monte
Dolack, and the Seidensticker Wildlife Collection of taxidermy from
around the world.
New works by Bozeman artists Sara Mast and Terry Karson will be
the next exhibit starting Feb. 25.
