Wednesday, October 28, 2026 | 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Garden City Harvest
1657 River Rd | Missoula, MT
Project overview
River Road Phase 1 will improve safety, access, and connections along River Road, from the existing improvements west of Russell Street to Bondurant Court. Proposed improvements include a water main extension, curb and gutter, sidewalks or a shared-use path, potential bike lanes and other right-of-way upgrades.
The project will create a safer, more comfortable corridor while improving access for people who walk, bike, drive or use mobility devices. Final improvements will reflect available right-of-way, utility locations, the irrigation ditch, guardrails, and other corridor constraints.
Community benefits
Create safe, accessible walking routes for residents of all ages and abilities.
Improve pedestrian safety.
Manage stormwater more effectively and protect local water quality.
Enhance neighborhood appearance and expand Missoula’s urban forest.
Support cross-city travel and connectivity for people walking, biking, and driving.
The Missoula Redevelopment Agency will fund Phase 1 with existing Urban Renewal District II tax increment funds. The project will not require a direct project assessment to property owners within the district.
The City and the project consultant, IMEG, will share preliminary concepts during the public meeting. Community members can review options, talk with the project team, ask questions, and provide feedback before the team advances the design. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027.
