KALISPELL – Summer is in full swing at Lone Pine State Park, and there are plenty of opportunities for families, kids, dog lovers and outdoor enthusiasts to get outside, learn something new and connect with nature. From outdoor movie nights and archery programs to Junior Ranger activities and wildlife encounters, there is something for every age and interest.
Junior Ranger programs
Select Tuesdays, June - August • 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Young explorers entering grades 3 – 6 are invited to join the summer Junior Ranger programs. Each session combines hands-on activities, outdoor exploration and nature-based learning designed to help kids discover the natural world while having fun.

Explore the life cycle of plants and learn about the important relationship between flowers and their pollinators.
- July 7 – Scientific classification
Become a scientist and discover how plants and animals are identified, grouped and named.
- July 21 – Trophic energy transfer
Follow the flow of energy through ecosystems and learn how plants and animals are connected through food chains.
Cost is $4 per student per program. Space is limited and advance registration is required.

B.A.R.K. Ranger hikes
June 27 and July 25 • 9 – 10:30 a.m.
Bring your canine companion and hit the trails during the B.A.R.K. Ranger hikes. Participants will learn the four B.A.R.K. Ranger principles that help keep parks safe and enjoyable for people, pets and wildlife. Dogs that complete the program will earn an official Lone Pine B.A.R.K. Ranger dog tag.

Sundays with Camo
June 28 and July 26 • 2 – 2:30 p.m.
Visitors can meet Camo, Lone Pine's resident bull snake, and discover how this reptile survives in Montana's ecosystems. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe Camo during his weekly feeding and learn about the adaptations that make bull snakes such successful predators.
Free. No registration required.
Outdoor movie night: Disney Nature Bears
Wednesday, July 17 • 7 p.m.
Summer movie nights are coming to Lone Pine. Families are invited to enjoy a film under the open sky on the lawn behind the visitor center. Guests can bring a blanket or lawn chair, pack snacks and settle in for a relaxed evening outdoors.
Admission is free, but registration is required and limited to 50 participants.
Beginner archery for kids
July 23 • 10 – 11:30 a.m.
Kids entering grades 4 – 8 can learn the fundamentals of archery and build confidence through guided instruction and practice. Beginners are welcome, and all equipment is provided.
