• On Saturday, July 21, the Rotary Club of Butte will host the Rink 2 Ridge Run, a walk and run with 1- and 5-mile options that will start at the Butte High Altitude Speed Skating Center and end at Maud S Canyon. The event will raise funds for Xsports4vets as well as for the Rotary Club’s community projects. The Southwest Montana United Veterans Council will conduct the posting-of-the-flag ceremony at 7:40 a.m., and the race will begin at 8.
The cost is $20 through July 14 and $25 after that. Registration for kids 14 and under is $10. Proceeds will support Xsports4vets, Victory Circle Community Tree, Montana Tech scholarships, Maud S Canyon trails, Interact and Rotaract clubs, and Rotary Youth Leadership campers. Online registration is available until July 17 at www.montanarotary.org under the “upcoming events” tab or by mail to Rotary Club of Butte, PO Box 3014, Butte, MT 59702. Pre-registration and packet pickup at the U.S. High Altitude Speed Skating Center is Friday, July 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 21, from 7 to 7:30 a.m. Those registered by July 14 are guaranteed a T-shirt.
• The annual Champions Football Camp for boys entering second through twelfth grade will be July 23 through 26 in Butte. The camp, which is sponsored by the Butte Central Football Program, will be held on Torger Oaas Maroon Field. The camp will be staffed by Butte Central coaches and several former Maroon players. The camp for seventh- through twelfth-graders will be held Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening. The second-through-sixth-grade mini-camp will be held Tuesday through Thursday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The camp will focus on fundamentals by position, team development, and fun. The cost for second- through sixth-graders is $25, and the cost for seventh- through twelfth-graders is $50. Discounted rates will be offered for families with more than one camper.
