INDIANAPOLIS — Kalispell Glacier tennis coach Josh Munro and Huntley Project volleyball coach Iona Stookey are two of 23 coaches from across the nation to be honored as 2021-22 National Coaches of the Year.
The awards were announced Monday by the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Association.
Munro has coached at Glacier for 16 years, leading the boys and girls programs to 17 divisional titles — 10 for boys and seven for girls. He has also coached 14 individual state champions and has been named coach of the year four times.
In addition, Munro has guided the Glacier debate teams to six state titles.
Stookey has led Huntley Project to nearly 900 victories over 37 years, including a 32-0 Class B state championship season in 2022. In all, the Red Devils have won a state-record 13 titles under Stookey and she is a 13-time Montana coach of the year.

Stookey was inducted into the MSU Billings Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Montana Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2017.
The NFHS receives nominations for the award from member state associations.
