Jake Bentley set another school record in winning the 100-yard butterfly to help the Butte High boys finish in fifth place at the Missoula Invitational on Saturday at the University of Montana.
Bentley’s time of 56.66 seconds broke the old Bulldog record of a 56.72. It also topped second-place Dylan Faust of Missoula Hellgate by more than three-hundredths of a second. Another Bulldog, Zach Johnson, was sixth in the race.
Bentley added a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley, finishing just behind Big Sky/Loyola’s Adam Zimmer.
"I am very proud of how we swam," Butte High coach Lynn Shrader said. "We are getting faster, and getting ready for our last two meets."
The Bulldogs’ other two top-six finishes on the day came in the boys’ relays, where Butte High was third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 400 freestyle.
Hellgate swept the team titles in the 12-team event, romping in the boys standings while the girls held off Bozeman, 491-469. The Butte High girls took ninth.
