BUTTE — The Butte softball team sure knows how to end the regular season with a bang.
Lifted by a four RBI effort from Taylor Huff, the Bulldogs scored 23 runs in two-and-a-half innings to beat Missoula Big Sky 23-0. Butte needed just 10 hits to run rule the Eagles on senior night.
Big Sky walked each of the first five Butte batters before starting pitcher McCaul McCarthy grounded out to give the Eagles their first out. Butte led 4-0 at that point, with several runs scored on wild pitches.
McCarthy was strong in her three innings on the mound and threw 43 pitches while recording six strikeouts. She issued just one walk and did not give up a hit.

Huff, Brittney Tierney, MacKenzie Tutty all had doubles for Butte, who moves its season record to 5-14. Big Sky is winless this season.
Four Butte players record multiple RBI in the blowout win, which comes at the end of a busy week for the Bulldogs. Butte split a doubleheader with Great Falls-CMR on Monday before falling twice to Great Falls High on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs will next be in action in next week's Eastern AA Divisional as they try to book a spot in the state tournament.
