Rochi Estes during a three-point compeition in 2010. The nephew of Anaconda great Wayne Estes, Rochi will take the reigns of the Copperhead program.

Former Anaconda standout Rochi Estes is taking over the Copperhead boys' basketball team.

First reported by Blake Hempstead of Copperhead County on Tuesday night, Estes will take over for former coach Bill Hill, who retired after this season. Estes, who is the nephew of Anaconda legend Wayne Estes, is the all-time leader in three-pointers at the school with 220.

Rochi wore his uncle's No. 33 while playing at the school and occasionally even a pair of his socks.

He played for the Copperheads from 2002-06 and broke the 1,000 point mark during his high school career. He also holds the record for the most three-pointers made in a season with 89. After graduating from Anaconda, Estes played for two seasons at Dickinson State.

Estes holds the record for the most varsity letters won at the school with 13.

Anaconda graduates a good deal of its roster, including the school's all-time scoring leader, Braxton Hill. The Copperheads made the state tournament each of the last two seasons and had a runner-up finish in 2017. There's still talent on the team, but there might be a bit of a rebuilding process to be had.

Estes has previous coaching experience, serving as an assistant to both Hill and the coach before him, Jason Buell.
