The recent accomplishment's of Montana Western's women's basketball team earned the Bulldogs some praise from Washington D.C.

On the House floor on Thursday, U.S. congressman Greg Gianforte celebrated the women’s basketball team from the University of Montana Western for winning the 2019 NAIA national championship.

“All of Montana is Bulldog Nation,” Gianforte said.

Gianforte praised the team as “remarkable” and described their season as “stellar.”

“Congratulations to all the players and coaches. Your school and your state are proud of what you’ve all accomplished,” Gianforte said.

The Bulldogs rolled past Oklahoma City University 75-59 in the NAIA Division I women's title game on March 19 in Billings to become the first Frontier Conference women's team to claim the championship.  

Gianforte highlighted the outstanding play of guards Brianna King and Tori Anderson as well as forward Britt Cooper. He also applauded the leadership of head coach Lindsay Woolley who was named 2019 NAIA Coach of the Year.

The team finished the 2018-2019 season with a 30-4 record.
