Fallout from Montana Western’s 42-35 win over Montana Tech on Saturday has reached a national level.
The Orediggers slipped to No. 11 from No. 5 in this week’s NAIA Top 25 coaches’ poll, which put Montana Tech’s chances of hosting a playoff game – should they get there – in jeopardy.
Southern Oregon, the lone undefeated team in the Frontier Conference, is coming off of its bye week and benefited from Tech’s slide by moving up one spot to the No. 7 position.
Montana Western inched its way closer to a spot in the poll by picking up 15 points in the poll. No. 25 Kansas Wesleyan got 19 points.
The Orediggers will try to get back on track when they travel to Carroll College on Saturday.
Western will play at College of Idaho in search of a season sweep over the Yotes.
