BOZEMAN — Class A state distance champion Levi Taylor of Laurel has signed a letter of intent to join the cross country and track and field programs at Montana State.

This past fall, Taylor completed back-to-back cross country titles with a time of 16:18.3.

His senior cross country campaign was highlighted by a lifetime-best mark of 15:51.7 in a five-mile race and he improved 57 spots from his junior year to senior year at the Nike Northwest Regional Championships.

In track and field, Taylor claimed both Class A distance titles last spring by taking first in the 1,600 (4:26.57) and 3,200 (9:43.80).

The Bobcats also announced the signing of Lucas Jepsen of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jepsen claimed his second straight 5A state championship in the triple jump, and first in the long jump, as a junior last spring.
