Police say they believe a Butte woman may have stolen up to $50,000 from the bar where she worked. They say she may have manipulated receipts from gaming machines and cashed them at McGrath’s Pub.

The owner of the bar and its adjoining Christina’s Cocina Café notified police about the potential theft on Sept. 11. Detectives looked at audits over the next week and continued to investigate the matter before arresting 47-year-old Heather Merrick on Thursday.

She was booked on four felony complaints — two for forgery, one for theft by embezzlement and one for gaming fraud. She bonded out shortly after the arrest.
