Chase is on
A call came into the police station at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday about a person trying to steal a car parked at Northwest Title & Pawn.
Soon police were pursuing the successful car thief, who turned into Hamblin Heights Mobile Village, just off Centennial Avenue, and quickly hit a small porch.
Officers cornered the vehicle, but the driver, Christopher Brock Marez, 43, of Butte refused to get out. He was able to maneuver his car out, but in the process he hit a police vehicle and nearly struck an officer.
The driver then headed for the southwest side of the trailer park but got stuck. He fled on foot, and police were able to catch up to him near Centennial Concrete.
Marez was jailed for reckless driving, having no liability insurance, eluding police, committing hit and run, and two counts of obstructing a police officer — all misdemeanors — and assaulting a police officer and motor vehicle theft, both felonies.
A snowmobiler was driving up and down Evans Avenue and Nevada Street Wednesday afternoon.
It didn’t take too long for residents to get annoyed, and someone called the police station.
When police arrived the snowmobiler was nowhere to be found.
Police are currently investigating a theft of medication from a home on Roosevelt Drive.
There are no suspects at this time.
