Police arrested a 22-year-old Whitehall man for allegedly punching a man so hard he went unconscious on Monday night.
According to police, they went to Spud McGee’s bar on South Main Street on an assault call. When they arrived, they found a man unconscious but breathing, with a deep laceration in his forehead, police said.
When the man awoke, he and several witnesses told officers Tucker South had punched him while they were talking in the bar. South was in the bar at the time but refused to identify himself at first, police said.
Due to the victim’s injuries and his refusal to identify himself, officers arrested South for aggravated assault and obstructing a peace officer, both felonies.
Police said someone broke into Jordan Contracting’s yard in the 500 block of Centennial Avenue.
At 5:30 a.m. Monday, officers were called down to the yard. Employees said it had been broken into through a gate.
According to police, someone broke out the window of a construction trailer, stole keys to vehicles in the yard, broke into them and tried to steal one vehicle, police said. That vehicle was found in a nearby ditch, along with a company laptop. A welder was also stolen from the yard.
Jordan Contracting employees are working on a comprehensive list of missing items for police.
As of Tuesday morning, about $3,500 worth of damage and missing items were reported but no suspects had been identified.
