Arrests on felony warrants

  • Police arrested a 39-year-old man on warrants Sunday evening, one for a theft from last year.

Officers made a traffic stop at 7 p.m. near Grand Avenue and Georgia Street. Police said they discovered Ryan Trevithick had two warrants for his arrest, one for felony theft and the other for misdemeanor criminal mischief.

According to police, the felony theft occurred on June 5, 2018, at a residence in the area of Standby Creek Road. Trevithick allegedly stole several items from the residence, including cash and a gold bar, which he sold to a local pawn shop several days later. Police said a warrant was issued for Trevithick’s arrest on June 14.

Trevithick was arrested Sunday and transported to the county jail.

  • A 31-year-old Arizona man was arrested early Saturday on a felony warrant.

Police stopped at 2 a.m. to check on Shawn Sgro, who was walking in the area of Atlantic Street and Harrison Avenue. Sgro told police he was OK and that he was on his way to the bus transfer station.

But while talking with Sgro, officers learned he had a $25,000 arrest warrant for a felony probation violation out of Arizona. Sgro was arrested and transported to the county jail.

Assault at a hotel

A 47-year-old woman was arrested Friday afternoon after allegedly assaulting another woman at a local hotel.

According to police, they drove to the Quality Inn on Cornell Avenue around 1 p.m. in response to a disturbance call. There, the victim told officers she and Virginia Lowney had been arguing when Lowney pushed her, causing her to hit her head on a table, police said.

Lowney was not at the hotel when officers spoke with the victim, but police located her later that day driving on South Main Street. Officers made a traffic stop on Lowney, spoke with her and determined she was the primary aggressor in the earlier disturbance.

Police arrested Lowney for partner or family member assault, a felony due to two prior PFMA convictions, and transported her to the detention center.
