Criminal trespass, sleeping on couch

A 60-year-old woman was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly breaking into a house and sleeping on the couch.

At 3:30 p.m., Butte police were called to the Butte Rescue Mission’s homeless shelter near Arizona and Platinum Streets in response to an unwanted woman who was at the shelter but had been trespassed previously.

When police arrived, the woman, Ann Sherman, was no longer in the area. Officers located Sherman inside a residence nearby. She had allegedly broken a window to gain entry and was found sleeping on a couch in the home, police said.
