Butting heads behind bars

Two inmates in the same cell block got into a skirmish at the Butte jail and one head-butted the other, police say.

The altercation happened on Sept. 8 but it took officers a couple of days to review video footage and investigate the matter. They have turned their findings over to the county attorney for consideration of charges.

Fight at Butte High

Two girls got into a fight in a hall at Butte High School shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, police say. One girl was cited for simple assault and she must appear later in Youth Court. The school day went on anyway.

Nabbed at Havanah's

Police found a Butte man wanted on an outstanding warrant sitting at a gaming machine in Havanah’s Casino on Front Street late Monday night and now he faces additional charges.

They say Nathan Keane Schneider, 42, had a plastic container with suspected heroin on him so he was arrested on a warrant revoking a previous sentence and a felony complaint of possessing dangerous drugs. He was still behind bars as of early Wednesday morning.

Afternoon naps

Two transients were asleep at Father Sheehan Park shortly before 1 p.m. Monday, one in a gazebo and one near a flagpole. An officer woke them up and told them to move on, which they did. End of report.
