Man allegedly strangles driver, causing crash
Police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly strangling a woman while she was driving, causing her to black out and drive into a residence.
According to police, officers responded to the accident around 3:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day. When they arrived, they reportedly found that the woman's vehicle had caused minor damage to a fence, gate and paneling of a residence in the 100 block of Minah Street.
Police said the woman told officers her passenger, Josh Gray, had reached over and strangled her before the accident, causing her to black out. She told police she woke up after her vehicle struck the residence, and police said she had bruising around her neck consistent with being strangled.
Officers arrested Gray at the scene on suspicion of strangulation of a partner or family member, which is a felony.
As of Wednesday morning, police said a complaint had not been filed for damage to the Minah Street residence.
