How long before earth is destroyed?
I often think about the injustice that exists in this world, the senselessness that takes on a life of its own.
I often think of the cruelty inflicted on animals and people, those who have no voice of their own.
I often think about the exquisite beauty of planet Earth, our home. And yet I wonder how long it will be before human thoughtlessness, cruelty and greed will destroy creation’s perfect plan?

'Pumpkin elf' gives joy to gardener
Recently, my entire pumpkin patch produced only one — let's say "rather unique-looking" — pumpkin. I felt it still deserved its place on our front step where it sat alone.
After a couple days passed, I went outside early one morning and discovered our pumpkin wannabe was no longer alone, having been joined on the step by a perfect pumpkin.
Over the next several mornings, five additional pumpkins arrived in the same manner.
I did not know, nor was I able to learn, who this pumpkin elf is, but I want him or her to know that this was one of the most delightful ways for me to start the mornings of this season.
I continue to arrange and rearrange their placement on the steps.
Thank you so much, whoever you are!

Smith River resolution of waste
How can Helena city commissioners justify wasting time on criticizing a mine application two counties away that they have never visited? Are they so confident in their educations, experiences, or, perhaps, their innate understanding of such technical undertakings that they have any ability to conduct a useful critic of Tintina's and the state of Montana's experts? Perhaps the Helena commissioners' time could be better spent on Helena's own issues. I'm sure Meagher County residents would agree.
