The historic Silver Bridge that normally spans the Big Hole River near Divide is being restored on the east bank at the Powerhouse fishing access. Work on the bridge should be completed by fall of this year. Construction is set to begin in late June or July, said Nathan Haddick, bridge engineer for the Department of Transportation’s Butte district. The bridge has been closed since March 2012, and removed from the river. Haddick said the DOT expected the work to be complete by 2014, but the contractor encountered bedrock under the streambed, which led to significant delay.
