Friends of the Montana Tech Library will be holding a book sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. with items priced to sell at the Montana Tech library. Books include science, handyman, fiction, travel and more. Hardbacks are $1, paperbacks, 50 cents, DVDs, $1, and special books priced as marked.
The Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives, 17 W. Quartz St., will close at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, to prepare for the Montana Antiques Appraisal Fair. The Archives normal hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Details: 406-782-3280.

Once again, Butte Halloween is hosting a night of spooky fun and games for all ages from 5 to 9 p.m. in Uptown Butte. Carnival lovers of all ages can purchase tokens at the Granger Lot at the corner of Park and Dakota in Uptown Butte and from there go on a scavenger hunt throughout the Uptown. Sideshow acts will include Butte Magic’s Xenobiological Tent of the Odd, Noose Von Link’s Theater of the Bizarre, and Mistress Morgana’s Serpentarium. The games at the midway are expected to include Zombie Pop, a Devil Duck Pond, a Strongman Hammer, a Lollipop Pull, and Milk Bottle Knock Down. FIREMEN AT LIBRARY
Butte’s firemen will be the special guests at the Butte Public Library’s story time at 11 a.m. All ages are welcome. For more details, call Cathy at 406-723-3361.
CLUBS AND MEETINGS
- Retired Mine Workers will meet at the Butte Country Club. The luncheon is at 12:30 p.m., and a meeting will follow.

- Butte Public Library hosts Chess Club from 2 to 4:45 p.m. Fridays on the first floor. All ages and abilities are welcome. No experience necessary, just a desire to play.
