Dr. Robert Wheeler appointed chief fellow

Dr. Robert Wheeler has been appointed Chief Fellow of Pulmonary and Critical Care Services for Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals (MCWAH), Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

A 2005 graduate of Butte Central High School, Dr. Wheeler received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from Gonzaga University in 2009, his Masters of Health Sciences with an emphasis in molecular medicine from Montana State University in 2010, and his MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 2014.

He completed his residency in internal medicine at Froedtert Regional Medical Center and affiliated hospitals in Milwaukee June 30, 2017, and was accepted for his three-year combined pulmonary/critical care fellowship at that time.

Dr. Wheeler’s parents are Dan and Janet Wheeler of Fairmont.

Grant writing workshop planned

Need money for a worthwhile cause? Montana Tech invites the public to a free grant writing workshop from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, at the Montana Tech library.

The workshop will cover strategies for successful grant writing and provide training in the use of the foundation center’s grant seeking and fundraising databases. The Montana Tech library cooperates with the foundation center as a member of the Funding Information Network and provides free public access to the foundation center’s resources, including its online databases.

Anyone seeking grant funding or interested in learning more about the Funding Information Network is invited to attend. To register, call the library at 406-496-4281 or email reference@mtech.edu.

School election judges needed

Butte School District #1 is seeking election judges for the upcoming school election on May 7.

Judges are compensated for the time spent working the election and training. Training will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. For more details, call the business office at 406-533-2505.

America’s small businesses saluted

Headwaters RC&D and Montana Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) will be hosting SBDC Day, a national proclamation of the impact of America's small business development centers on the success of our nation's dreamers, innovators, and doers — America's small businesses.

A reception will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Montana Craft Malt Company, 50 Sod Farm Road, Butte, featuring Lt. Gov. Mike Cooney, SBDC success stories, refreshments, and networking with Montana's small business community.
