Coronation king, queen named

John “JT” Sullivan and Alyssa Waananen were named king and queen of the 2019 Butte High Senior Coronation.

Their parents are John and Kelly Sullivan, and Lee and Shauna Waananen.

Elks’ memorial service Sunday

The Butte Elks Lodge, 206 W. Galena St., will hold its annual memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, for members who have passed away this year.

Deceased members include William J. Shea, Edward Lisac, Frank Parrett, Joseph Bracco, John T. Shea, James Barry, James J. Murphy, Larry Jacobson, and Richard Thomas.

Clothing drive Dec. 7 at the MAC

The Harrington Pepsi/Butte Cares/Cherry Creek Media Clothing Drive’s “Free Distribution Day” is Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Maroon Activity Center, 550 E. Mercury St. Doors open at 10 a.m., and the event runs through 1 p.m.

All are invited to come and get free clothing items including shoes, boots, outdoor boots, hats, gloves, men’s and women’s shirts, pants, coats, warm blankets and more. There will also be clothing for infants, toddlers, children and seniors.

Also, there will be free beverages, coffee, cookies and warm food.

Lost Creek to close until spring

ANACONDA -- Lost Creek State Park will close its entrance gate Monday, Dec. 2, for the winter season. The park access road is not maintained for winter conditions and closes the Monday following the end of the general hunting season.

Lost Creek State Park can be accessed by non-motorized travel when the access road is closed. Access is by foot, snowshoe, cross-country skis and even fat tire bikes. For more details, call 406-287-3541.

Library to hold used book sale

The Butte-Silver Bow Public Library at 226 W. Broadway St., will hold its holiday used book on Saturday, Dec. 7, through Saturday, Dec. 14, during regular library hours.

Books on the first floor will be $1 & $3 with DVDs priced at $2. Bargain basement room books will be $1 per bag. 

From Dec. 16 through Dec. 24, the bargain basement books will be free as long as they last. All proceeds benefit the library collections and programming events.
