Local chiropractor receives national award
Dr. Michael R. Welker was recently honored at the 2020 American Chiropractic Association convention in Washington, D.C.
Welker was the recipient of the Flynn-Lynch Memorial Award recognizing the contributions to the profession made by a member of the House of Delegates.
Dr. Welker is a current member of the ACA House of Delegates, president of the Montana Chiropractic Association, and past president and longtime board member of the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association. He has been practicing in Butte for 25 years.
Toastmasters announce winners
Top O’ the Mornin’ Toastmasters weekly winners included Tonette Hollingsworth, best speaker; Billie Holmlund, best topic respondent; and Denise Kagie, best evaluator.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Perkins.

Music event planned Saturday
Come to the Carpenter's Union Hall for a free music event being held from 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturday, Feb. 8, at 156 W. Granite St. There will be three acts covering a range of electronic and hip hop genres. These musical acts will be presented on a custom large format sound system with video projection.
The acts include The Arsonists, a local Butte hip-hop group, featuring six MC's and a DJ; Philip Glasshole, of Missoula, are a live experimental electronic music ensemble; and finally, another local from Butte, Not Sure, is a DJ spinning underground bass music from down-tempo, to psydub, to glitch-hop.
Ski lesson offered to veterans
Learn how to cross country ski or snowshoe along the Continental Divide starting at 9:45 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, at Homestake Lodge, 530 Upper Rader Creek Road.
This event is free for veterans and a plus one with proof of deployment to an area of imminent danger.
The instruction will be provided by Homestake Lodge. Equipment such as skies, poles, boots, and snowshoes are provided, in addition to lunch.
Do a half or a full day. Stay with the instructor or explore on your own.
