Nurse nominations sought
The Montana Standard is seeking nominations of outstanding local nurses to be honored in a coming special section of the newspaper.
Nurses may be nominated in several categories — registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, advanced practice registered nurse, or medication aide.
Nurses selected by a judging panel from those nominated will be featured in the May 12 section, and will also be honored guests at a reception hosted by The Montana Standard and other event sponsors.
Deadline for nominations is April 10. They may be submitted at mtstandard.com/nurses
Tech spring choral concert coming up
Montana Tech’s Choral Union is celebrating the world of opera by bringing some of its more famous choruses to the stage for its spring concert beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in Montana Tech’s Library Auditorium.
The Copper Hill Choir will take on pieces from contemporary works, including the musicals “Waitress” and “Dear Evan Hansen” and Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody. The “town and gown” Choral Union’s fare begins with a piece from the operetta “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss and Handel’s “Happy We” from Handel’s “Acts and Galatea.” Other highlights include several works by Leonard Bernstein. The Choral Union’s potion of the concert concludes with the popular finale from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “The Gondoliers.”
There will be light refreshments following the show. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors and students.
St. James nursing alumni banquet set
The annual St. James School of Nursing Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, April 27, at the Butte Country Club. A no-host cocktail party will begin at 6 p.m., and dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $27 All nurses are welcome.

Highway 1 project proposed
PHILIPSBURG — The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking comments on a proposal to resurface about 11 miles of Montana Highway 1 from Georgetown Lake to Philipsburg.
The project begins on MT-1 at the junction with Georgetown Lake Road at reference post 27.4 and extends northerly for 11.2 miles, ending approximately 500 feet north of the junction with Marshall Creek Road at reference post 38.5.
The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2020, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding.
