Central’s bingo fundraiser planned

Butte Central’s annual bingo will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Maroon Activities Center, 550 E. Mercury St. Doors open at 1:30. The event is open to everyone 21 and older. The concession stand will be open and a cash bar for wine and beer will be available.

Proceeds go toward classroom supplies and special program items needed at Butte Central preschool through high school. Bingo tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or at Butte Central Elementary by calling 406-782-4500. 

Toastmasters announce winners

Top O’ the Mornin’ Toastmasters weekly winners included Bob Cerise, best speaker; Lorri DePlazes, best topic respondent; and Tonette Hollingsworth, best evaluator.

The next meeting will be held at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Perkins.

MLK book reading coming to schools

Montana AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA and Senior Corps will lead Martin Luther King “Read for Peace” events in elementary schools across the state this week.

The event will take place in K-5 classrooms in Butte’s elementary schools on Monday, Jan. 20. Begun in 1994, the MLK National Day of Service encourages Americans to honor King’s legacy by volunteering time in their communities.

Burning Bowl ceremony at Unity Church

Butte Unity Center, 300 S. Montana St., will hold its annual Burning Bowl ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 19, to give participants the opportunity to let go of past resentments, hurts and ideas that no longer serve them. 

Unity is an open-minded, accepting spiritual community that honors all paths to God, and helps people discover and live their spiritual potential and purpose.

Senior center serves lunch

TWIN BRIDGES — Lunch is served daily at the Twin Bridges Senior and Community Center. The weekly menu through Jan. 17 is listed below:

Wednesday, Jan. 15 — Meat Loaf, mashed potatoes, veggie salad, and lemon meringue pie.

Friday, Jan. 17 — Hamburgers, hot dogs, three bean salad, German potato salad.
