Dog vs. cat dispute
A neighborhood dispute over a dog and cat led one Butte man, who was wearing a 9mm pistol on his belt, to put his hand on the weapon and make verbal threats to shoot the dog owner.
Dale Jay Gustafson, 32, was arrested at around 8 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Joy Lane. The disturbance centered on a report that the victim’s dog chased Gustafson’s cat out of the victim’s yard.
Gustafson was jailed for assault with a weapon.
Arrest without incident
Police officers saw Marvin Gerhardt Rubusch, 43, of Butte in the parking lot of the Town Pump, 531 S. Montana St., and knew he had a warrant out for his arrest.
Rubusch was taken into custody without incident.
Arrested for DUI
Shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday, an officer noticed a man driving in a reckless manner in the 2400 block of Harrison Avenue, and made a traffic stop.
The driver, Tristan Isak Kohntopp, 21 of Butte, was arrested for driving under the influence, reckless driving, and failure to have liability insurance in effect.
Three male juveniles (two are 15, one 14) were charged with criminal mischief after vandalizing a residence on June 27 in the 4800 block of South Warren Avenue.
A Butte resident called about a suspected intoxicated driver Saturday night.
An officer stopped the suspect, Colton James Johnson, 27, of Butte at about 8:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Silver Bow Boulevard.
He was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence and for making an improper turn. A breath test indicated that his blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
Around 10 p.m. Saturday, officers investigating a disturbance in the 1400 block of Hobson Avenue discovered Alvin Lee Grant Jr., 39, homeless, had given them a false name.
Police also discovered he was an escapee from the Helena Pre-Release Center.
Grant was arrested on the escape warrant and also jailed for obstructing a peace officer and criminal mischief after he broke a door handle on the police car in an alleged escape attempt.
The owner of the yellow 2007 Chevy Cobalt stolen Thursday night outside Spud’s Bar, 541 S. Main St., found his vehicle Saturday afternoon in the 600 block of South Washington Street. The car had not been damaged.
- A couple living in the 600 block of South Colorado missed out on all the fireworks so they decided to make up for it Sunday night by shooting off a few rockets. Apparently, that didn’t go over too well with the neighbors. When officers arrived, the couple promised not to light any more fireworks.
- Another call came in Sunday night about fireworks going off in the 800 block of Emmett Avenue. When officers arrived, there was no one in sight.
