TWIN BRIDGES - A crash between a semi-truck and 2009 Ford pickup truck on Highway 41 near Twin Bridges killed one man from Dillon and injured a Bozeman man early Friday morning.

David Kendall, 70, of Dillon died at the scene. Todd Kendall, 38, of Bozeman was life-flighted to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, but his condition is unavailable.

Montana Highway Patrol reports that two vehicles were heading north when a semi-truck, driven by a man from Alberta, Canada, attempted to pass them both.

The lead pickup truck signaled to turn left, and was struck by the passing semi-trailer. The pickup truck rolled several times, the patrol said.

The middle car veered off the right side of the road and that driver was uninjured.

David Kendall was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

All of the other drivers were seatbelted and speed and alcohol were not factors, the patrol reported.

The death brings to 192 fatalities this year, compared to 187 as of November of 2011.
