March 15, 1943-April 5, 2019

William "Bill" was born on March 15, 1943, in Butte, MT and passed away on April 5th, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

His parents were Lois (Hansen) and Paul Tonkin.

Bill met JoAnn (Benich), his lifelong partner, and the couple married Oct 27, 1962. They raised three wonderful daughters and created a large, close-knit family.

He worked in the Butte mines (and loved to tell you all about it) with his Dad and brother, Lee. He then went to work for the Butte Concentrator. He also volunteered for the Walkerville Fire Dept.

Bill loved to hunt, camp, fish and spend time with his large family. As seen in his hunting journal he created for many years, he enjoyed bringing anyone who wanted to go, such as family, friends and neighborhood kids and teach them his way of hunting. He also enjoyed riding his side by side.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Laurie Dallaserra (John), Melanie Tonkin (John Osterman), and Marcie Hettick (Jack); his sister, Carol Drobny; his beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Justine (Brian), Jonna, Shavon (Tom), Beau, Danelle (Chris), Bryce, Matt (Heather), Josh (Beth), Zack (Lacie); as well as 14 great-grandchildren.
