March 18, 1938-March 7, 2019
Patrick William Zeier, age 80, of Anaconda, Montana passed away on Thursday, March 7th, 2019 at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula, Montana surrounded by his loving family.
Pat was born in Hamilton, Montana on March 18, 1938 to Fran and Ed Zeier. The family moved to Anaconda when he was a young child.
Pat joined the Air Force with his best friend, Don Hart, and K Keele. Pat Zeier and Button McMonigle were married on May 6, 1961 in Anaconda, Montana. They were married 57 years and were blessed with two children and two grandchildren. They lived at Galen for 33 years until moving to Georgetown Lake. They lived in the home that Pat and good friend Gay Ida built. He was so proud of his home.
Pat was a Teamster for 34 years at Galen State Hospital. He had an additional job farming for Carl Meyer in the Deer Lodge Valley until he discovered camping. After Pat retired as a Teamster, he worked for several years with his brother Don and Frank Palakovich plumbing various homes throughout Western Montana.
Pat liked to camp and ride motorcycles and ATV's in the mountains. He loved snowmobiling the Red Lion area, the West Big Hole, and West Yellowstone with family and friends. Pat enjoyed many projects with his family including cutting and hauling firewood, working on Power Wagons, and various projects at home. He was always the "Supervisor". Pat especially liked to plow "his road" and the neighbors’ driveways with his 1948 Power Wagon.
Pat loved his family unconditionally. One of his favorite things to do was to impart wisdom to his grandchildren whom he loved more than life. He was our protector and adviser. We always felt safe when he was there. He was honest to a fault and had the most common sense of anyone. Pat could fix most anything, and was always there to help others.
Pat enjoyed having coffee at the 7 Gables with Caroline, Bart, Big Ed, Jack, Ed, Tom, and Pat Connors. He was blessed with a good family, good job, and many good friends, including Kiki Skakles, Tom Earhart, Dave Hurlbert, Mike Cerise, Dean Reed, Stan Urich, Don Hatcher, Bill Jones, Ed Mondloch and numerous others.
Pat was a member of the Elks and an active member of the Anaconda Catholic Community. He always said he bad two angels on his shoulders that kept him out of trouble, which we understand according to friends was much needed.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, sister, Theresa and brother-in-law, Carlos Marshal, sister, Thelma and brother in-law, Chuck Ternes, brother, Rich and sister-in-law, Pat Zeier, brothers, Don Zeier and Ernie Zeier, and sister-in-law, Delores Zeier.
Pat is survived by his wife Button of 57 years. Pat is survived by his children, Dan (Janis) Zeier and Jamie (Gene} Evans of Anaconda; two grandchildren, Scott Berry (fiancé Ashley Wright) of Billings, and Brittney Zeier of Missoula; brother, Ed (Val) Zeier of Great Falls; and sisters-in-law, Fem Zeier and Bev Zeier of Anaconda. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
We will miss you forever and love you for always.
