Aug. 12, 1957-March 3, 2018

Pat lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on March 3, 2018, less than a month after fulfilling his desire to return to Butte.

Pat was born Aug. 12, 1957, in Butte to Frances (Sam) and Jack McGinley, the youngest of six boys. He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School and Butte Central.

Upon graduating, Pat pursued his interest in Radio AM broadcasting, working in numerous markets in several states. He was employed in various other lines of work, but a job injury eventually led to his leaving the work force on disability.

He settled in North Carolina and occupied his time by writing his books about Butte, tending his asparagus patches, refinishing furniture and most notably communicating with his large Facebook family. "Friends" from Butte to Glencolmcille looked forward to Pat's near daily posts. They followed the ups and downs of his battle with cancer and shared in his hopes and fears. They admired his positive attitude and wit in the face of much suffering and uncertainty, and to the end continued to support and encourage him. Though never seen or tasted he visited the Emerald Isle daily in his heart.

In his final weeks Pat was fortunate to have the care and company of his brother Tim and wife Char, as well as members of the Compassus Hospice team. He died as he wished, being back home and with family.

Pat is survived by daughter, Savanna and son, Riley. Along with Tim and Char, brothers Mike, John, Larry (Kim) survive. Brother Kevin preceded him in death.

Pat, Rest in peace, and to everyone else, in Pat's words sláinte and -- NO WHINING!!!

Cremation has taken place and family services will be held at a later date.

Axelson Alternative Cremation is privileged to serve Pat’s family.
