May 2, 1940-March 29, 2019

Our beloved Nino left this world on March 29th 2019. Neil was born May 2nd 1940 to Evelyn (Surber) and Howard Glenn Dimmitt in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was one of 9 children. The family moved to Butte and Neil went to Grant school and Butte High before joining the Navy. In 1964 he married Karen Stewart, their first daughter Karanel was born in 1965 and Theresa was born in 1967. In 1985 he married Alys Henningson and their daughter Arielle joined the family in 1986.

He worked at the Berkeley Pit, ran a bar in Ketchikan Alaska, and was an over-the-road truck driver until his health forced an early retirement. He had a wandering spirit traveling all over the country; a great love for dogs, was quick with a smile, and always had a cup of coffee in his hand. His phone calls always started with “Well hello darlin’ this is your old dad.” His stories, jokes and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
