Muriel M. Zeren was born in Beulah, North Dakota, April 29, 1934, to Francis F. and Decater L. Ford. She and her family moved to Butte, MT when she was eight years old.

In Butte, Muriel met her life-long partner of 67 years, Norman “Ray” Zeren. The two met in 1950 and were married February 25, 1951. In her lifetime, she accomplished many achievements including graduating from Butte Business College, supervising laundry at Silver Bow General Hospital, until its closing, obtaining her Real Estate licensure, managing day to day operations, as well as bookkeeping for Master Cleaners, and working at the Crest Nursing Home for over 20 years. Above all else, her greatest joy was raising and loving her family, alongside her husband, Ray.

Muriel was a hard-working, warm, witting, kind-hearted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was a woman of many names and was affectionately called Mama, Auntie, Gram, Gunga, and Mom, just to name a few. She will be forever remembered for her culinary skills. You would often find her curled up with a book. She loved baseball, especially her beloved Atlanta Braves. Muriel was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with the family.

Muriel is survived by her children: Linda (Larry) Ruckdaschel, Raymond Zeren, and Nancy (Mike) Maddock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews she helped raise. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Ray Zeren, her siblings: “Hank”, Bob, Roxy, Pauline, and Peggy.
