Jan. 14, 1937 -April 13, 2018

Our sweet and loving Lorraine Mohan, long-time resident of the Butte-Anaconda area, has ascended to the "great light in the sky" in the early morning hours of Friday, April 13, 2018.

She was born Lorraine Ellen Reistad on January 14, 1937, as the first child of Chester H.Reistad and May Price Reistad in Philipsburg, Montana.

She grew up primarily in the Philipsburg area and attended both Philipsburg Elementary School and Granite County High School. She was the oldest of four children in the family. Lorraine was a loving, caring sibling for her three brothers. She selflessly served the role of mother, sister, and friend during their time growing up.

Lorraine first married at the young age of 18 and had one son, Terry Kistle, now deceased. After her first marriage, she moved to Anaconda where she lived much of her adult life. She married William Chase in 1957 and together they had five children. They later divorced. In 1972 she married Bill Mohan, and together they continued to raise Lorraine's family. They divorced in 1993. Throughout her time in Anaconda she worked many jobs, some when she was single and other times when her husband was unemployed. She worked mainly in food and beverage service but also at the Montana State Hospital.

Lorraine moved to Butte in 2005 after she retired from Montana State Hospital but continued part-time work in nursing homes and in home care.

Lorraine had a strong work ethic and was very caring; if she knew you were in need of help she was always there. One of her proud accomplishments was being the best employee wherever she worked in order to raise her children. Lorraine was also one of the best friends a person could ever ask for, rarely complaining about anything and sincerely loving everyone.

Lorraine is survived by daughter Linda Chase of Butte and children Ronnie Kopp, Carissa Kopp, Nicole Chase-Larson, Brett Berger, Brad Berger, and Jeremy Berger; daughter Mary VanMeel of Butte and children Shaun Mohan, Kara VanMeel, Cory VanMeel, and Ami Ferda; son Bill (Brandy) Chase of Sahuarita, AZ, and children Jacob Adams, Colten Chase and Traven Chase; nineteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Terry (Helen) Reistad of Great Falls, MT, and Gordon (Kathleen) Reistad of Corvallis, OR; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
