Larry Michael Briggs Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 21, in Anaconda after a long battle with brain cancer.
He was born on December 11, 1945 in Anaconda. He was the oldest of ten children born to Heber and Mary (Allen) Briggs.
Larry was the loving husband of Barbara (Brown) Briggs, his high school sweetheart, whom he married on October 11, 1965.
Larry attended Anaconda Schools and graduated from Anaconda High School in 1965. While in high school, he was very active in sports and was very proud that he had been a four year letterman in football.
He had worked for the Anaconda Company in Anaconda until its closure. He then worked for Missoula Sheet Metal and later for the Butte Concentrator and Montana Resources until he retired.
When he wasn’t working, you would find him enjoying the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved hunting with his two sons and his childhood friend, Jim Magness. His best memories were of spending time in the outdoors with his four children. He always said that he was closest to God when he was in the beautiful mountains.
Larry was very proud to have served 16 years in the Montana National Guard. He loved his country.
He is survived by his wife and 4 children, Kellee (Mike) Spillman, Elizabeth Briggs, Larry Jr. (Michelle) and James (Heather) Briggs. Also surviving are thirteeen Grandchildren, eight Great Grandchidlren, six Sisters and three Brothers. He was very proud of his Grandchildren, especially his Grandson Ethan Crabtree.
Cremation has taken place at Butte Crematories.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church in Anaconda on Thursday morning, March 28, at 10:30. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
