Harold Schnabel passed away Tuesday morning at the Bee Hive Homes.
He was born New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 1939, in Huron, South Dakota to August and Lydia (Frank) Schnabel. He attended schools in South Dakota and married Rose Joy Jarvi. They moved to Butte in 1966, and Harold worked for the Anaconda Company and later MRI as a heavy equipment operator. He was a deeply religious man and a true man of God. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He believed in working with his hands, was extremely talented and made many scale model western style wagons.
Besides his parents August and Lydia, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, who passed away on July 6, 1982; his siblings, Walter and Mary Schnabel, Florence (Schnabel and Elmer Fredrickson, Val (Schnabel) and Edgar Schorzman, Leo and Vera Schnabel, Marvin and Alice Schnabel and sister-in-law, Peggy Schnabel.
He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Karen Schnabel of Folsom, California; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Mike Sawiski of Butte; grandchildren, Jennifer Basnett, Selena Montoya, Taylor Schnabel, Melissa and Bogday Anton, Courtney and Josh Smith; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jacob Anton and Hailee and Grant Basnett. Also surviving are his siblings, Ruben and Lois Schnabel, Melbert Schnabel and Arlene and Windy Windedahll
Mr. Schnabel’s remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where friends may call this (Thursday) afternoon after 5 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning at 10 a.m., in the funeral home with Pastor Paul Roueche officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
