Gloria A. Erickson went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 25, 2019. She was born Friday, April 29, 1932 to Harry and Doris Parson in Frederika, Iowa. She grew up and attended schools there and moved to Butte in 1953. 

She and Ralph Erickson were married in 1966 in Salmon, Idaho and they lived at Nissler Junction for 40 years until his death at which time she moved into Butte.

Gloria worked at JC Penney’s for seventeen years, then owned and operated Montgomery Wards in Butte. 

She was a 54-year member of the First Baptist Church, served as Worthy Matron of Butte Chapter # 39, Order of the Eastern Star and joined the Wet Hens of Fairmont’s Red Hat Group in the 1980’s.

She was a very giving and generous lady and was known by family for her homemade gifts, belt buckles, bolo ties and necklaces, not to mention the states’ quarter collections. She never got over or forgave the Montana Power for what happened to her and the other stockholders. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ralph A. Erickson; son, Richard Paul Miller; stepchildren, Warren Erickson and Susan Tangmo; sister, Mary Jean Card and brother, Harry Parson. 

Survivors include her stepdaughter, Lynn Tinsley and family; daughter-in-law, Shirley Erickson and family; sister, Maxine Evers; numerous nieces and nephews; and her constant companion and caregiver, “Cheesy” the cat. 

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, September 14th at 11 a.m. in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home.
