April 29, 1927-Nov. 26, 2018
Fae Nielsen Duffy, 91, of Butte passed away on Monday, Nov. 26, 2018. Fae was being lovingly cared for by her family along with the wonderful staff of Beehive Homes in Butte when she passed.
Fae was born in Menan, Idaho on April 29, 1927, the youngest girl and the last surviving child of 12 children to Alma and Clara Nielsen. The family moved to Butte when Fae was 3. She attended school in Butte and was a very hard worker, helping to support her family. In high school, she worked at the S&L Ice Cream Store. Because she was very good at her job and had such a bubbly personality, she earned the nickname “Scoops”.
She met James Michael Duffy in 1945. The two fell in love and were married on February 24, 1946. The Butte couple raised four children. When Fae was in her 40’s, she enrolled in cosmetology school. She later opened a salon in her basement called Duffy’s Dollhouse where her kind and warm personality brought returning clients for 30 years.
Fae’s passions included dancing, walking, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was also very passionate about singing. She regularly used her singing talents to bring joy to other people, including singing weekly at the Belmont Senior Center and Big Sky Senior Living Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her sons, Jimmy Duffy of Antioch, CA and Greg Duffy of Whitehall, MT.
She is survived by her daughters, Jineen (Earl) Rauch of Silver Bow, MT and Rhonda (Oge) Kaio of St. George, UT, along with her 13 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the caring and dedicated staff at Beehive Homes. Memorials in memory of Fae may be made to the Belmont Senior Center.
Visitation for Fae will begin Saturday morning, Dec. 8, at 9 o’clock in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, followed by funeral services at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Express condolences at www.wayrynen-richards.com.
