Elizabeth Ann (Betty) McNabb passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Butte, Montana on June 17, 2019.

Betty was born in Butte on March 15, 1936, the daughter of Cecil R. and Mary C.  (Doherty) Stevenson. She attended St. Lawrence and St. Ann’s grade schools, Girls’ Central High School and graduated from Butte High School.

Following high school she worked for Wilson Motor Company for one year, then moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for National Geographic. She then moved back to Butte, working various jobs.

On Dec. 18, 1954, she married a handsome Butte sailor, Frank McNabb and the young couple moved to Long Beach, CA.  After 6 months they moved back to Butte and she went to work at St. James Hospital for 40 years; first as a nurse’s aide, then as the 4th floor (General) Ward Secretary, where everyone knew and loved her.

With her husband Frank they lived in the Doherty family home in Centerville, while raising her two sons before buying a home and moving to the flats where she lived for 50 years.

Betty volunteered every month to fill food baskets with her lifelong best friend Shirley Sharkey.  She also enjoyed monthly gatherings with her retired nurse friends and her fun outings at the Montana Club. She loved the O’Neill, Riley and Stevenson family gatherings.

She was a member of St. Lawrence, St. John’s and St. Ann’s parishes. Betty enjoyed family vacations up the Wise River, Elk Horn Hot Springs, Grasshopper Creek Campground, joined by many family and friends.  The “Best Pasty Maker Ever” – she loved all family get-togethers for work (pasty making) or pleasure. Her home was always the go to place for 4th of July gatherings and also the landing place for her younger brothers, John and Mike.  In retirement she enjoyed attending all the grandchildren’s events and traveling to all the different venues.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; brothers, Bob Stevenson and Tom Stevenson; husband, Frank McNabb; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bud and Mary McNabb and Dal and Catherine McNabb; and uncle, John Doherty.  Her only older sibling, Bob died tragically playing Legion Baseball when Betty was just 15.

She is survived by her son, Frank (Joan) McNabb and their children, Eric (Aimee) and their children Kelton, Teaghan and Finley, Kelsie Goodwin (Josh) and their children, Carter and Brogan, and Bryan and his wife Molly; son, Bob (Mara) McNabb and their children, Brianne Donoven (Brent) and their son, Desmond, Riley McNabb and Justin McNabb.
