On the morning of July 7th, 2019, Eleanor May Wedlake passed away at St. James Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was born in Butte, MT on August 11th, 1927 to Bill and Molly Weis. She attended St. Joseph’s Grade School, graduating from Butte High School in 1945. Eleanor worked at Barkley Motors after graduation. On August 23th, 1949 she enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged on August 1st, 1953 as a seaman apprentice.
Eleanor married Robert “Bob” Wedlake on August 20th, 1950, and they were blessed with 5 children: Karen (Fred) Hayes, Sandy (Pat) Maloney, Pam (Walt) Gonder, Rob (Christy) Wedlake and Chuck (Christina Crosby) Wedlake. She was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5-½ great-great-grandchildren.
Eleanor enjoyed bowling, pinochle, watching grandchildren participate in a variety of sports. She loved watching baseball and was a Braves fan. Eleanor loved to read, but macular degeneration limited her ability to see.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother and father, brother and sister-in-law Jack and Lilah Weis, granddaughter Alisa Hayes, several brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, niece and nephew.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at St. John’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rite of Committal will follow the Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials in honor of Eleanor are suggested to Shriners Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s, Albert’s Angel Fund, or the Montana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
