Dr. Larry “Jake” Jacobson passed away at his residence on August 15, 2019. Jake, born Lawrence King Jacobson on May 31, 1939, was a humble philosopher. He will forever be remembered as the kindest, most intelligent dad ever. He was a friend to all.

Dr. Larry King Jacobson was a Professor of Liberal Studies at Montana Tech. He started teaching at Tech in 1977. Before coming to work at Tech he taught from 1968 to 1972 at the University of Minnesota. He spent an immense amount of time learning, attending Montana State University, earning both a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science in Philosophy. He attended graduate school at the University of Montana, Stamford University, and finally the University of Minnesota where he earned his Doctorate in American Studies. He was immensely proud of his book, The Grammarian Agenda, which was published in 1983. Dr. Jacobson taught classes in Writing, American Studies, Literature, Philosophy, Ethics, Logic, and History. He was also well known to take esoteric debates off campus with the Teague O’Reagan Philosophical Society.
