Dora Melba Medina passed away Thursday morning in St. James Healthcare.
She was born Tuesday, June 16, 1925, in Ojo Sarco, New Mexico to Augustine and Adelina (Romero) Armijo. She was raised and educated in New Mexico and on Oct. 13, 1945, she married Ernesto Medina in Penasco, New Mexico. Dora and Ernesto and their young family moved to Butte where he worked for the Anaconda Company. She was a devoted wife and mother and a longtime member of St. Mary’s and later St. Patrick’s Parish.
Ernesto preceded her in death in 1989. She is also preceded in death by three sons, Felix, John and Albert Medina, her daughter-in-law, Colleen Medina, three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include her son, Sam Medina; son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kitty Medina; and daughter Elizabeth Medina and her husband, Robert Prescott, all of Butte. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, her brother, Nestor Armijo and two sisters, Helen and Petrachina.
Dora’s remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where friends may call Wednesday evening after 5 o’clock. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o’clock in the funeral home with Father Patrick Beretta officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
