SILVER STAR -- Cheryl Anne Roper Yates was born in Bozeman, Montana on September 6, 1958 to W.E. and June Roper.  She passed from this life on April 16, 2019 in Butte, Montana from COPD complications.

Cheryl was raised in Silver Star.  She moved to Oklahoma for a time, worked as a chain hand on an oil rig in Kemmerer, Wyoming and settled in Casper.  She attended Casper College and got her Associates Degree in auto mechanics and a minor in art.  She also learned to weld at this time.  She moved back home to Montana in 2016.

She is survived by the loves of her life -- her daughter and son-in-law Areia and Jeramiah Smith and her granddaughter Bella, who will soon have a little brother or sister.  She is also survived by her sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Bokovoy of Helena, her oldest child and her son-in-law.

The family would like to thank the staff and her caregivers at the Crest Nursing Home for the care they gave her over the last year of her life.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the family home in Silver Star.

K&L Mortuaries & Crematory of Twin Bridges is assisting with arrangements.
