Jan. 13, 1927-Dec. 21, 2018
Anita C. Wilson, 91, born January 13, 1927 to Nathan and Beatrice Hanson in Butte, Montana. She was raised on Holmes Avenue, which at the time was considered "the country". She lived there until she married Jim Wilson, when she moved to the Z-T Ranch and resided there until her death. As a young woman, Anita worked as the secretary to the president of Miner's Bank and then took a job as a secretary at White's Funeral Home, where she met her husband, Jim. After marrying, she left her home in the city and moved 16 miles out of town where she had no running water or electricity for the first few years of her marriage. Anita was a country girl at heart. She loved the country! Anita had a huge passion for Yellowstone Park and the Wise River area where she spent endless time at both.
From that time on Anita was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She did not have a selfish bone in her body. Her family always came first. Anyone that new her, was always welcomed into her home with a beautiful smile and tons of hospitality. She was always feeding workers from the ski area or our friends, cousins, aunts and uncles who came to visit. After the Wilson's opened the Z-T ski area you would find her selling lift tickets and working in the kitchen. Anita was a 4-H leader for 12 years and her favorite pastime in the summer was golfing at Fairmont with her cousin Lorraine Matthews.
Anita was blessed to have 3 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren whom she loved and adored. Beyond her immediate family she loved her large extended family including nieces and nephews as well as the Schonsberg and Nichols families who referred to her as "Grams".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wilson; parents, Nathan and Beatrice Hanson; son-in-law, Bob Schonsberg Jr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Robert (Evelyn) (Gloria) Wilson, Kathleen (William) Andrews, William (Hallie) Wilson, John (Irene) Wilson and Tillie Hanson.
Anita is survived by her sons, Donald (Judy) Wilson of Butte, Ken Wilson of Butte; daughter, Sandy Schonsberg of Wise River; grandchildren, Dawn Marie (Adam) Gollofon, Kristie (Eric) Garberg, both from Bozeman and Mario (Alisa) Schonsberg of Butte; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jenna, Daly, and Katy Gollofon, Wyatt and Elise Garberg, and Gavyn, Maverick and Maria Schonsberg; and brother, Robert
Hanson of Boise, ID.
Thanks to her son Ken, Anita was fortunate to remain in her home until her death. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed and was able to look up to Toll Mountain and the Tobacco Roots right up to the end.
The service to celebrate Anita's life will be held January 12, 2019 at the Presbyterian Church, in Butte, MT at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be sent to the Teddy Nichols Scholarship Fund at Montana Tech, or to a charity of your choice.
