The rankings by Best Value Schools of the 50 Best Value Engineering Schools 2018 puts Montana Tech at the top of the list.
The Butte-based university was deemed to be a best value because of comparatively high placement rates and early average salaries for engineering graduates and for comparatively low tuition costs.
The Missouri University of Science and Technology, based in Rolla, Missouri, ranked second. The brief narrative provided by Best Value Schools of the Missouri university notes that it doesn’t offer very much in the way of soft sciences or humanities — not to speak of the arts — focusing instead on science, technology, engineering, and math.
Montana Tech’s designation by Montana’s university system as a “special focus university” suggests that the school will increasingly emphasize such STEM majors.
