HELENA – Governor-elect Steve Bullock and Lieutenant Governor-elect John Walsh today announced their picks to lead the Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
Bullock announced that Jeff Hagener will be Director of the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Park and John Rogers will lead the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and serve as Montana’s Chief Business Officer.
“Jeff and John are two of the best our state has to offer and they are assuming important posts that will help protect the Montana we love and continue to grow our economy,” said Bullock. “I’m happy to have them on the team.”
Jeff Hagener will lead the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. Hagener previously served as Director of the FWP from 2001 – 2008, under both the Martz and Schweitzer administrations. Hagener was most recently a Senior Biologist at NewFields, an international natural resources consulting firm. Before that, Hagener was the Development/Program Director at the Montana Wildlife Federation. Between 1988 and 2000, he was a Division Administrator at the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation. Hagener holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Montana State University. Hagener and his wife Debbie have a daughter and a son.
John Rogers will serve as Montana’s Chief Business Officer and lead the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Rogers comes to the Governor’s Office from the Economic Development Administration where, for 24 years, he’s helped businesses around the region grow and helped others locate here. Before that he was the Business Improvement District Manager for the City of Helena from 1986-1988. Rogers received a Bachelor of Business and Public Administration with an Emphasis in Planning from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks in 1975. Rogers served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and earned the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. Rogers and his wife, Judy, have one daughter.
Bullock has so far picked his nominees for the Departments of Commerce; Corrections; Labor and Industry; Natural Resources and Conservation; Transportation; Environmental Quality; Revenue; Fish, Wildlife and Parks; Administration; Health and Human Services; and the Montana Lottery.
